Chinese Coronavirus: What do you think? (poll)

In the past few weeks, we've all learned about "social distancing" and "flattening the curve" and the moral (and now in many areas legal) duty to not assemble together. (Click here to see Grassfire's outbreak "lexicon.") Society has spoken. Most of us are taking part in this "shutdown ride," as we collectively fight the Chinese Coronavirus.

The response has been so overwhelming from seemingly all sectors of society that it's already gotten to the point that suggesting any opinion that brings into question the shutdown/quarantine strategy is, well, dangerous and a violation of our collective moral duty. Grassfire wants to know what you think.

Has America ever needed God's blessing more?

This is a difficult time for the United States and the world. The fear, confusion and uncertainty can feel overwhelming. That's exactly why Grassfire began selling our "God Bless America" yard signs a little early this year.

We don't usually offer them to team members until the weather starts getting a bit nicer across the country. Typically, that happens after Easter. But, other than September 11, 2001, we can't think of another time in history when America needed the Lord's blessing more than it does now.

Fight fear with "God Bless America" yard signs

"It's as if Satan is roaming the earth as coronavirus."

The wife of a Grassfire staff member made that observation early last week, as panic was intensifying and much of the nation had not yet shutdown. This morning, as threats of tyrannical closings and cancellations grew, this warning came to mind from 1 Peter 5:8, "(Y)our adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (NKJV).

That "roaring lion" sounds a little bit like the Chinese Coronavirus, doesn't it?

However, just one verse earlier in 1 Peter, believers are told to cast "all your care upon Him, for He cares for you" (v. 7). Also, in John 14:1, Jesus says, "Let not your heart be troubled."

THIS is exactly what America needs right now

A National Day of Prayer is EXACTLY what America needs right now. Last night, President Trump called for everyone to spend tomorrow praying "for protection and strength" as a way to "PREVAIL" in the battle against the Chinese Coronavirus. Grassfire couldn't agree more!

Psalm 33:12 promises us, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." So we're urging all of our team members to spend time in prayer tomorrow and every day until this virus is eliminated -- or, at least, contained.

As they almost always do, many on the Left will mock our "thoughts and prayers" in the coming days. Ignore them. For those of us whose hope is in the Lord, we know that the "fervent prayers of a righteous man" or woman can lead to miracles (James 5:16).

"Mounting ethics complaints" against Schumer

FOX News reports that "mounting ethics complaints" have been filed against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for his threats against Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

"In the days following Schumer’s statements at an abortion rights rally outside the court building," the FOX News article explains, "complaints were sent to the Senate Ethics Committee and the New York bar’s Grievance Committee, alleging that the Democratic leader’s remarks violated ethics rules."

As Grassfire reported earlier this week, conservative leaders, pastors, and now fellow lawyers are calling for Schumer to be officially reprimanded for his reckless and possibly dangerous comments. The Senate CANNOT give Schumer a "pass" on this!

U.S. SHUT DOWN begins -- is it constitutional?

I'm sure you're as stunned as I am...

We knew the SHUT DOWN was coming, but didn't expect it to develop quite this fast.

As I warned yesterday, our country's OVER-REACTION to the early stages of the Chinese Coronavirus ALMOST GUARANTEED an even greater over-reaction as the virus inevitably spreads to more states and more people. (If you missed my complete THREE CORONAVIRUS MYTHS analysis, go here.)

Yesterday, the dominoes started falling. Cities and states began imposing bans on gatherings. Florida imposed a modified quarantine for nursing homes. The NCAA announced that its basketball tournament would be played in empty arenas. Then the NBA suspended all games until further notice. Schools began to close or move to all online.

+ + Do bans on gatherings and quarantines violate your rights?

Schumer CENSURE vote: "To be determined"

Grassfire reached out to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) office this morning. We asked our contact there about a possible vote to censure Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for threatening two Supreme Court Justices at an abortion rally last week. Here's the email reply we received:

"To be determined. There are other matters at hand right now."

By "other matters," we assume he means the widening panic about the Chinese Coronavirus. While this illness is serious and requires every American to take necessary precautions, we can't let fear-mongering media and big-government Democrats push everything else aside.

Right now, the Left is STEAMROLLING the rights of law-abiding Americans! The National Guard is "containing" part of a city in New York. Government officials are discouraging (and in some cases, prohibiting) citizens from assembling in large crowds. They're also encouraging us NOT to travel freely inside our own country. To top it all off, the highest-ranking Democrat in the Senate brazenly threatened two Supreme Court Justices last week -- and might get away with it!

"Censure Schumer!" gains steam

The push to censure Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is gaining steam. According to FOX News, the Coalition of African-American pastors is urging Congress to censure the Senate Minority Leader for threats he made against Supreme Court Justices Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh during an abortion-rights rally last week. The coalition's petition to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) reads, in part:

"(T)he comments were threatening in nature and were made with the intent of stirring up animus (and possibly violence) against the justices. This behavior is an affront to the dignity of the U.S. Senate. It perpetuates a sense of division in our nation and encourages radicals to approach political disagreements as a forum for violent action. The Senate should demonstrate that Senator Schumer has gone beyond the bounds of acceptable behavior and take appropriate disciplinary action."

FOX News also reports that, on Monday, dozens of conservative leaders signed an open letter to U.S. Senators calling for an official reprimand:

"(It) says that Schumer's previous apology for the remarks was insufficient and cites Chief Justice John Roberts' statement which called Schumer's remarks 'not only inappropriate' but 'dangerous.' It calls for the Senate to censure him."
