Lawmakers are likely to return on Tuesday at the earliest due to the Yom Kippur holiday, leaving less than a week for Congress to hash out a spending deal by Sept. 30.

FOX News also says a "small group of House GOP negotiators will remain on Capitol Hill trying to cobble together a deal." Many in government hope to avert a partial shutdown next week, but a handful (or two) of House Freedom Caucus members are fighting "business as usual" on Capitol Hill.

They're making life difficult for McCarthy by refusing to sign off on a 31-day continuing resolution (CR) to fund America's bloated government. The biggest "thorn" in the Speaker's side, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), urged fellow "America First" colleagues last night to "Hold the line." His tweet also included this post late yesterday from President Trump on Truth Social:
