Gallup recently released a new survey that found, for the first time, that Democrats have a more favorable opinion of socialism than capitalism.

The survey is jolting, or at least it should be. According to Gallup, 57% of Democrats now have a favorable view of socialism, while just 47% view capitalism favorably. But the big change over the eight years that Gallup has conducted this survey reveals the real nature of the ideological shift in our land.

While Democrat views of socialism are essentially unchanged over the past two years, Democrat postive views of capitalism have plummeted from 56% to 47%. Meanwhile, the views of Republicans towards socialism and capitalism have remained basically unchanged over the eight years. See the full survey results here.

Why are Democrats rushing towards socialism? President Trump. Despite the positive results in the economy, the extremely negative reaction to our President appears to be impacting people's ideological views. The divide we feel in society isn't simply about the current President. It's much deeper. It's philosophical. And it's growing.

And here's the real danger. President Trump now represents a thin barrier holding back an intense political counter-reaction that could shift American politics dramatically -- if Trump is removed or politically neutered by a change in power in Congress. Those "overthrowing" Trump will feel empowered and emboldened by a new, more socialist, agenda.

This makes the stakes even higher this November.
