The office of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) sent Grassfire staff an email a few minutes ago to confirm when the "Upper Chamber" will vote on two crucial pro-life bills. Here's what we were told about today's schedule:
Later at 3:30 pm, the Senate will proceed to ... roll call votes on:
- Cloture on the Motion to Proceed (MTP) to S.3275, Pain Capable Unborn Child Act
- Cloture on the MTP to S.311, Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
That means ALL SIGNS point to these life-and-death votes happening TODAY! Pro-life patriots still have at least two more hours to make their voices heard by calling on Senators to "END ABORTION IN AMERICA!"
Exactly one year ago today, the United States Senate failed to guarantee lawful protection for babies who are born alive after a botched abortion. But the "Upper Chamber" has a chance to correct that mistake today.
The Born-Alive Abortion-Survivors Protection Act (S.311) requires doctors and nurses to provide life-saving treatment to those newborns. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (S.3275) prohibits abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, which is when a majority of the medical community says unborn babies are capable of feeling pain.

On the Senate floor today, McConnell called on his colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support this important pro-life legislation:
Today, every Senator will be able to take a clear moral stand. We’ll have the chance to proceed to commonsense legislation that would move our nation closer to the international mainstream with respect to defending innocent human life.
There are only seven nations left in the world where an unborn child can be killed by elective abortion after 20 weeks, and the United States of America is one of them. ...
If my Democratic colleagues block the Senate from even proceeding to debate this legislation later today, the message they send will be chilling and clear: The radical demands of the far-left will drown out common sense and the views of most Americans.
The same goes for ... the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Even if most Washington Democrats persist in their resistance to any common-sense protections for the unborn, surely we must be able to agree that children who are born deserve protection. Surely that much cannot be controversial.
There is currently no federal mandate that children who are delivered alive following attempted abortions receive medical care. No clear guarantee that every child born alive in the United States -- whether they were intended to be or not -- is entitled to the same lifegiving medical attention.
Grassfire team members have sent Congress a grassroots "tsunami" of pro-life faxes over the past several days. Thank you to everyone who has taken action. If you can, please fax Senators again. If EVERY Republican Senator supports this legislation today, along with just seven Democrats, these bills can receive the up-or-down votes they deserve!
