It can be argued that the "Appeal To Heaven" flag is one of the most important flags in our nation's history.

From the colonial era, the white pines of New England were an important resource for the colonies. So when, in 1772, the King issued an edict granting that England could take an unlimited number of these trees for the British navy, the colonists were outraged.

Very quickly, the white pine became a symbol of the early American resistance to tyranny. A flag was designed featuring the pine under the words "AN APPEAL TO HEAVEN" to boldly say...

In October 1775, George Washington, Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, flew the "Appeal To Heaven" flag  as "a symbol of solidarity, conviction and encouragement to fight for liberty."
