Earlier today, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) adjourned the House, sending lawmakers home for their annual August recess. That's a week earlier than expected, which means Representatives won't meet again in Washington, D.C. for almost seven-weeks!
Johnson's decision to pack up and go home has flummoxed Reps on both sides of the aisle. Some BIG things have happened politically over the past 12 days that warrant the full attention of and action by Congress. Do any of these ring a bell Mr. Speaker?
- The assassination attempt on President Trump and the ongoing investigation surrounding it
- The "bloodless coup" by Democrat "elites" against Joe Biden's candidacy and the viability of his presidency
- Violent and destructive anti-Israel and pro-Hamas riots and protests at the U.S. Capitol and other parts of D.C.
- Critical funding bills have not been passed, which will likely lead to yet ANOTHER continuing resolution.
What do you think? These actions are unprecedented! Should House members be leaving D.C. after what the American people have witnessed in less than two weeks? Let us know where you stand by voting in our "Get Back To Work?" QuickPoll now.
