Grassfire reached out to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) office this morning to ask when Senators will vote on the so-called "Respect for Marriage Act." We're still awaiting their reply but will keep you updated about when today's cloture vote will happen.

H.R.8404 threatens the First Amendment rights of conservatives, Christians and anyone who rejects the homosexual lifestyle. If you hold traditional views on marriage and sexuality, this anti-faith, pro-LGBTQ bill could punish you for not bowing to the radical, unhinged Left's pro-gay and pro-trans agenda.

More than 80 national religious leaders insist the bill "is an attack on millions of Americans" that will "endanger people of faith." In a letter to McConnell back in July, men and women from dozens of Christian ministries, organizations and universities outlined the dangers of the misnamed "Respect for Marriage Act":

• "H.R. 8404 would require federal recognition of any one state’s definition of marriage without any parameters whatsoever. This would include plural marriages, time-bound marriages, open marriages, marriages involving a minor or relative, platonic marriages, or any other new marriage definition."

• "H.R. 8404 effectively deputizes activist groups to sue religious individuals, organizations, and businesses that operate according to their sincerely held religious belief that marriage is between one man and one woman."

• "The Internal Revenue Service could rely on this congressional declaration requiring full recognition of same-sex marriage to strip 501(c)(3) organizations of their tax-exempt status if they continue to adhere to their belief that marriage is only between one man and one woman."
