Dear Member of Congress,

 

Americans are tired of the hateful rhetoric that has infected Congress and its so-called "leaders." At a rally of abortion supporters on the front steps of the Supreme Court of the United States, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) threatened Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, saying:

 

"I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price! You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

 

Sen. Schumer should not be using that kind of threatening language when referring to esteemed members of the nation's High Court -- nor should anyone else. That fact that it came out of the mouth of the highest-ranking Democrat in the Senate is especially troubling.

 

I'm faxing you today to call on Congress to immediately censure Sen. Schumer for his threats against two outstanding members of the judicial branch and to call for his immediate resignation. The New York Democrat knows better. His colleagues in the Senate should officially reprimand him, demand he retract his awful, threatening statements, and urge him to resign from office.

 

What Sen. Schumer may have thought was an "applause line" in front of a "friendly" crowd was, in fact, a threat against two excellent and esteemed jurists. It also was a direct attack on the judicial branch, which exists to protect the rights of EVERY AMERICAN, and should be left completely outside the realm of politics.

 

The Senate Minority Leader deserves to be censured by the Upper Chamber, admonished by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, and forced to resign. I trust you will take appropriate action. Please know that I am closely monitoring your response. Thank you for your time and attention to this important issue.
