Pro-life Americans across the country are shocked and outraged by the recent passing of a New York law effectively legalizing abortion until just before birth. Other states' willingness to join the Empire State on the infanticide bandwagon has fanned the flames of controversy, keeping this life-or-death issue at the top of the headlines.

Yesterday, Grassfire staff came across a very informative online article about the abortion debate. Published by the Christian News Network, the author quotes medical professionals who speak out, strongly, against New York's new abortion law. The article insists it's "never necessary" to kill a baby to protect the health and/or life of a mother. Here are some excerpts:

Dr. Omar Hamada of Tennessee, who outlined that he has delivered more than 2,500 babies, wrote on social media… "There’s not a single fetal or maternal condition that requires third trimester abortion. Not one. Delivery, yes. Abortion, no. There is absolutely no medical reason to kill a near-term or term infant. For any reason."

"If there’s a problem—and there are problems in the third trimester, both with the babies and with the mom that require delivery—just deliver the baby. We don’t have to kill it," Hamada further explained to Fox News.

Dr. David McKnight, also of Tennessee, likewise said that if a concern arises, the baby is simply delivered via C-section. There is no need to kill the child to save the mother.

"As a board-certified practicing OB/GYN physician for over 30 years, I need to say publicly and unequivocally, that there is NEVER a medical reason to kill a baby at term," he remarked. "When complications of pregnancy endanger a mother’s life, we sometimes must deliver the baby early, but it is ALWAYS with the intent of doing whatever we can to do it safely for the baby too. The decision to kill an unborn baby at term is purely for convenience. It is murder."

The article also quotes a "neonatal intensive care unit" nurse, Olivia Scherlacher, who believes that the term "health of the mother" is too broad:

"The major problem with [the Reproductive Health Act] is that 'the patient’s life or health at risk' can mean so many different things," she remarked on social media. "It’ll be abused and people will say they’re mentally unstable and need to abort their baby, or the baby is giving the mother gestational diabetes, or the baby is giving the mother high blood pressure or even preeclampsia. ... But almost all of the conditions that put the mother’s life or health at risk can be solved by delivering the baby early by C-section when the risk gets too high, and very often these babies survive and grow up to be perfect."

Doesn't EVERY baby deserve the right to be born and to receive the help he or she needs to survive? Why should any infant be "sacrificed" to treat the mother, if doctors and nurses can intervene in an attempt to save both their lives?

As we stated previously, the real motivation behind radical Democrats' desire to institute such heinous and appalling abortion law is fear. The far-Left is so afraid of the possibility President Trump could appoint another pro-life Supreme Court Justice that they're exposing their "culture of death" for the entire nation to see. They're so unhinged about the possibility of "Roe v. Wade," the 1973 decision that "legalized" abortion, being overturned that barbarism and hysteria have replaced empathy and reason.
