Grassfire has learned that Speaker Johnson is holding critical meetings today with various factions in the House GOP regarding the reconciliation bill.

Most critical of all, Johnson is meeting with House conservatives who are OUTRAGED that the reconciliation bill amounts to yet another SPENDING SCAM that bankrupts our nation.

Freedom Caucus Chair Rep. Andy Harris called the bill a "joke" because of the PERKS NOW, PAIN LATER approach.

Republicans are doing the same SCAM that Democrats have done for years -- they are loading all the BENEFITS into the first four years and pushing all the PAY FORS into the next administration! That's what they did with the work requirement which doesn't go into effect until after President Trump leaves office!

Even Sen. John Cornyn -- not known to be a fiscal hawk -- is calling out the House GOP:

“This needs to be a serious effort, not a card trick.... If there was ever a time, that time has long passed — to be pretending to do cuts and not really getting the job done.”
