In response to the recent, deadly attacks in Boulder, Colorado and Atlanta, Georgia by evil-minded, deeply disturbed criminals, Congress and the Biden administration are considering new gun-control measures. Many gun-rights supporters fear that the Democrat-controlled legislative and executive branches will "overreach" -- either through executive fiat or additional legislation -- and infringe on the God-given, constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans.

The Second Amendment clearly states that "a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." But is the U.S. Constitution flawed when it comes to gun control? Or, if police cannot be everywhere, shouldn't people be allowed to use a gun to defend their lives and property?

When criminals use guns to hurt and kill people, it's tragic and unacceptable. Most Americans would agree that no terrorist, criminal or mentally ill person should be allowed access to firearms. But should gun-control laws prevent mentally competent, law-abiding citizens from exercising their God-given constitutional right "to keep and bear Arms"?
