Last week, NFL legend Mike Ditka made it clear where he stands on professional athletes who kneel during "The Star-Spangled Banner." He said, "If you can’t respect our national anthem, get the hell out of the country."
But, even though he's one of the few men to win a Super Bowl as a player and coach, Ditka was heavily criticized by many on the Left for his bold, unapologetic stand. The 80-year-old hall-of-famer didn't care.
In fact, he doubled down on his comments when asked about them on FOX News. In an interview that aired Saturday night, Jesse Watters asked the former Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints head coach what he would have done if one of his players had "taken a knee" during the national anthem.
"They wouldn't have played for us," Ditka insisted. "I would bench 'em. That's it, until they found that it was honorable to respect the country. ... Don't act like a clown."
