The Federalist reported last week on just how bad the same-sex marriage bill, H.R.8404, is for conservatives, Christians and other people of faith. An online article published by the right-leaning news outlet insists, "Republicans have a chance to save religious Americans from the avalanche of legal assault that will come with Democrats' ill-named 'Respect For Marriage Act.'" But will they?
Earlier this month, H.R.8404 needed 10 Republican votes to advance to the Senate floor for debate. Shockingly, 12 RINO (Republican In Name Only) Senators stood with Democrats to vote "Yes" on the anti-faith, pro-LGBTQ bill. But with final votes still pending, those GOP turncoats still have time to change course and vote "No" on the so-called "Respect For Marriage Act." Here's why The Federalist says they should do exactly that:
Some, such as Portman, Collins, and Tillis, tried to couch their support for the bill by erroneously arguing that the legislation will actually protect religious liberty and freedom of conscience. In reality, the bill enables the opposite by empowering LGBT activists who have already exploited the legal system to target religious Americans. Its lame protections against being "required to provide" services celebrating same-sex marriage are limited to "nonprofit religious organizations," which clearly excludes businesses that aren't explicitly religious but can still be owned and operated by devout Christians.
The Biden Regime, the radical, unhinged Left and Establishment Republicans are on the brink of passing a law to punish Americans who refuse to fully embrace the pro-gay, pro-trans agenda. The Senate is scheduled to convene TODAY at 3:00 p.m. (ET) to resume consideration of H.R.8404. That means final votes on the anti-faith, pro-LGBTQ, same-sex marriage bill are expected soon.
