Based on superstar Taylor Swift's video portrayal of people opposed to the Equality Act, Swift has maliciously judged millions of Americans who hold to certain biblical values as backward thinking buffoons and ignorant bigots. I'm sure she would've incorporated the word "deplorables" if it hadn't already been used.
Yet, here is what Taylor Swift and over 350,000 of her pro-Equality Act petition signers fail to understand – or simply choose to dismiss:
The Equality Act is not about equality! It’s government-imposed ideology and unfairness.
The so-called "Equality Act" rewrites the Civil Liberties Act of 1964 by elevating "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to a protected status. The ramifications of this bill are far-reaching. In addition to nullifying the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and forcing Christians to violate their sincerely held beliefs, The Equality Act also puts Christians on the wrong side of the law. The bill does not exempt churches, religious organizations, or Christian schools. In fact, this hostile new bill specifically forbids citizens or organizations from raising a religious free exercise claim as a defense against it!
Mary Beth Waddell, a senior legislative assistant at Family Research Council rightfully determined, “The "‘Equality Act’ is the most extreme threat to religious freedom, free speech, privacy and to women's rights that has ever been proposed in Congress.”
The Equality Act undermines parental authority and will MANDATE that doctors and hospitals perform sex-change operations on teenagers.
+ + The "In-Equality” Act for women!
Taylor Swift and company, do you really understand that the "Equality Act" fails in its most basic premise: equality? It destroys the distinctions between male and female. It empowers men who identify as a woman to compete against women in sporting events. It forces biological women to share bathrooms, locker rooms and shower facilities with transgenders.
Last week, three female athletes in Connecticut filed a federal discrimination lawsuit declaring that a statewide policy of allowing transgender athletes to compete in women’s races has cost them top finishes in track and field competitions and the loss of college scholarships.
As reported by MSN, the mother of one of the lawsuit's victims said, "'There is a serious disadvantage... There are situations like athletics where your personal decision, personal choice and personal view of who you are doesn’t change who you actually are biologically and physiologically.'”
Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) has repeatedly warned, "The Equality Act enshrines inequality for women, girls, parents, and children, into federal law. This is an imminent threat to the common good, freedom, and the American dream that I work every day to preserve…"
+ + There is still time to take action against this heinous bill!
It is critical that we reach and surpass our goal of 20,000 signers before we deliver our "Stop the Anti-Faith "Equality Act" petitions to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the 12 GOP Senators LGBT activists are targeting. As of today, we are still short of our goal. That's why we've delayed our petition delivery to next week -- just before senators leave for their July 4 recess.
If you oppose the anti-faith Equality Act and want your name included in this petition, here's what you need to do...
(We included the complete petition language at the end of this message.)
Thanks for taking action today!
Grassfire
P.S. {{recipient.first_name_or_friend}}, Taylor Swift is using her superstar status to advance a misguided piece of legislation. Her mega-platform is all part of a strategy to overwhelm this issue and force Congress to take action. If concerned citizens don't take an active stand in defense of our religious liberties and against the oppressive "Equality Act," we will lose this battle and lose our faith, our families and our nation.
THE PETITION STATES:
I oppose the wrongly-named "Equality Act" -- a very dangerous bill that pushes a radical LGBT agenda while essentially criminalizing Christian beliefs. This bill would strip away religious liberties and put people of faith on the wrong side of the law. It also would force our churches and Christian businesses and schools to conform to the radical LGBT agenda. I urge you to oppose the so-called Equality Act.
