"Political theater"... That's what Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) said last week about the House fight over passing the SAVE Act and a continuing resolution (CR) to avoid a government shutdown.

In our ILLEGAL VOTING UPDATE last night (read it here), we wondered if Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) knew he didn't have the votes to pass it on Wednesday and initiated the GOP's usual "play-fight-and-surrender" strategy.

Unfortunately, Grassfire predicts Johnson will cave soon. Will he abandon the SAVE Act and pass a short-term spending bill -- with more Democrat votes than Republican... AGAIN.

That course of action would NOT protect the 2024 election. Instead, the CR will extend the out-of-control, tax-and-spend agenda of Joe, Kamala, Nancy and Chuck for ONLY the next three months. That would set up the Uni-Party perfectly to force the American people to endure yet another "Nightmare Before Christmas" spending battle.

Here's what could happen: A day or two before the Christmas recess, lawmakers will pass ANOTHER short-term spending bill to ensure the radical, unhinged Left gets every taxpayer dollar they demand, while weak-kneed Republicans curl up in the fetal position and abandon "America First"!
