Dear Senator,

I'm faxing today to demand Senators leave the current filibuster rule in place, as it has been for more than 100 years. You likely know that, after 130 years of allowing unlimited debate in the "Upper Chamber," Senators adopted the Cloture Rule in 1917. It determined that a two-thirds vote of Senators was needed to end debate on a bill. Fifty-eight years later, in 1975, the number was lowered to three-fifths of the Senate (60 votes). 

In 2005, then-Sen. Joe Biden said ending the filibuster "is not only a bad idea, it upsets the constitutional design, and it disservices the country." That same year, Sen. Chuck Schumer -- who's now Senate Majority Leader -- said eliminating the filibuster would put the nation "on the precipice of a... constitutional crisis." But now, both men (conveniently) dismiss the filibuster as racist, obstructionist and unnecessary.

But Democrats reportedly used the "silent filibuster" 327 times against Republicans and President Trump in 2020 alone. But now that they have control of the House, Senate and Oval Office, Democrats (and their corrupt partners in the FAKE NEWS media) want to end the filibuster and pass bills with a simple 51-vote majority, rather than the 60-vote "super majority."

What changed? Now that Democrats are in power, the rules that have been in place for more than 100 years, apparently, don't apply to them. They want to invoke the "nuclear option" to suit their needs and accomplish their stated goal of "fundamentally transforming the United States of America." Don't let them steamroll the GOP to enact Joe Biden's extreme, far-left, anti-American agenda!

Please fight to keep the filibuster in place to protect against "mob rule" in the Senate. Thank you for your attention and action related to this important political issue.
