Beware of the amnesty smoke screen! The current manufactured outcry over children being separated from their parents is over even though the policy was exactly the same under former president, Barack Obama. From The Daily Caller:
The media and political class become more and more outraged over the Trump administration's decision to detain and prosecute immigrants illegally crossing the border.
Lost in the debate is any acknowledgment that President Obama's administration also used detention facilities.
Current U.S. immigration laws, when enforced, have the consequence of temporarily separating adults who arrive with children into separate detention facilities in order to prosecute the adults.
Think about it for a minute. What happens when one or both parents commit a crime here in America? Often times, children are separated from their mother and/or father, then taken into the custody of Child Protective Services. People who enter the United States illegally have broken the law and must be detained. Why is this suddenly such a big issue now, when it wasn't during the eight years of the Obama presidency? Because it's a way to hurt Trump.
But it also could be a way to push the country further toward amnesty. Months ago, DACA was a big smoke screen for amnesty. Today, it's the manufactured and timed outrage over the separation of illegal-immigrant children from their suspected lawbreaking parents. (Note: Grassfire isn't making a judgment on whether this practice is acceptable or not. We're just bringing to light the inconsistency of the Left and the Establishment in complaining about it now and not before.)
It appears that signing the executive order was President Trump's way of putting out an out-of-control political firestorm created by the radical Left and their co-conspirators in the liberal media. But while it may have been a politically savvy and expedient action, liberty-loving Americans must make sure that's as far as it goes. There must be NO AMNESTY for illegal aliens!
