Dear Senator,

I'm faxing today to demand that you, a duly elected member of the United States Senate, reject the impeachment witch hunt against President Trump. I'm calling on you to vote "NO!" on impeaching America's 45th commander-in-chief. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and other anti-Trump lawmakers want to impeach Donald Trump retroactively in an attempt to prevent him from possibly winning the White House again in 2024. But, according to the Constitution, the Senate doesn't have jurisdiction to try a private citizen.

Civil-liberties lawyer and Harvard University School of Law's Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz has stated unequivocally that, "under the text of the constitution, under the policy of the constitution and under the intent of the Framers," an ex-president can NOT be tried in the Senate on articles of impeachment that were issued and voted on by the House of Representatives while he was still serving as Commander-in-Chief.

"The idea that the president can continue to be tried after he leaves office is so clearly in violation of the text and policies of the Constitution," Dershowitz added during his "The Dershow" podcast on January 15. "Impeachment was designed to remove a sitting president. It was not designed to prevent a former president from running."

The trumped-up charge this time was "incitement of insurrection" for "willfully inciting violence against the government of the United States." The Article of Impeachment claims the President "reiterated false claims that 'we won this election, and we won it by a landslide'. He also willingly made statements that encouraged—and foreseeably resulted in—imminent lawless action at the Capitol."

But President Trump was still speaking nearly 20 minutes AFTER protestors breached the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6 and disrupted Congress' certification of Joe Biden's Electoral College "victory." Legal experts have warned that impeaching the President for a speech he made at the "Stop The Steal!" rally in Washington, D.C., sets a dangerous precedent against the First Amendment. That's why it's up to you and your Senate colleagues to reject this impeachment witch hunt and help America heal.

For Democrats to impeach Mr. Trump now that he's left office, they need 17 of the 50 Republicans (34%) vote "Yes!" for a conviction. On Day 1 of the trial, 44 GOP Senators (88%) voted that it was unconstitutional. Why would any of those Republicans then vote to convict? That's why I'm asking you to end this political theater and "Reject The Impeachment Witch Hunt" by voting "NO!" on retroactively removing President Trump from office.

Finally, I would like to point out that our former commander-in-chief received a literal vote of confidence from more than 74 million Americans less than three months ago. So please take the necessary steps to reject this impeachment witch hunt by voting "NO!" I look forward to monitoring your response to this patriotic call to action. Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

A Concerned American Taxpayer
