I have been and remain a strong supporter of President Trump. Our president speaks truth to power unlike any leader certainly in our lifetimes.
But yesterday, President Trump made a post on Truth Social that went beyond any acceptable norm.
It was not only beneath the dignity of the office of the presidency, it was crass and insulting to Christians who were celebrating Easter as well as Muslims.
Here is the post that President Trump made at 8:03 AM ET as millions of Christians were taking part in sunrise Easter services or getting ready to attend church (worst of the profanity edited out):
Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the [BLEEPING] Strait, you crazy b*st*rds, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP
To take to social media and unleash a profanity-laced tirade against "crazy bastards" while threatening to bomb power plants and bridges and turn a nation of 90 million people into a living "Hell" on any day is too much. To do that on Easter Sunday morning feels intentional, blatantly disrespectful, and unhinged.
President Trump disrespected the most revered day on the Christian calendar while also mocking the second largest religion. President Trump should retract the post and apologize to both Christians and Muslims.
If you think I'm over-reacting, imagine what the reaction would have been from Christian and conservative leaders if Joe Biden had made such a post on Easter morning?
Here's what I did.
I left a comment on the White House website.
And I called the White House. I suggest you call the switchboard first and let that person know your thoughts (202-456-1414). They will likely transfer you to the comment line (202-456-1111).
The post was a tactical missed opportunity as well. President Trump turned the focus off of two victories -- the rescue of our pilots and the Artemis moon expedition -- onto his "mean tweet." The heroic rescue and the first manned space flight to the moon in decades could get lost.
This is a critical time for our nation. Every American, including President Trump, must raise our standard to restore our nation.
For life, liberty, and limited government,
