Today is the 25th anniversary of a day Americans will never forget -- the horrific terror attacks of 9/11.

I'll always remember that moment when news broke of the first tower being hit. There was much confusion. We assumed it was an accident.

Then just minutes later, we watched as another plane struck the south tower and it was clear this was a terror attack. 

Then, the Pentagon was struck. And another plane crashed in Pennsylvania.

At the time, my family was living near the largest naval base in the world. We wondered if we were next.

Perhaps you had the same thoughts.

Our world changed on 9/11. In a very real way, Americans would never feel as safe again. Two oceans and great distances had mostly protected us from foreign invasion. Then in a moment, an ideological invasion and a war against Western civilization came to our shores.

But everything didn't change....

Throughout American history, God's people have turned to the Lord in prayer for this land -- through wars and rumors of wars and depressions and all the great struggles and triumphs of the American experiment.

America was founded by leaders who gathered and prayed. The founders made a Declaration "with a firm reliance on the protetion of Divine Providence." When they gathered to draft a Constitution and were struggling to resolve their differences, Ben Franklin rose and said:

“I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing Proofs I see of this Truth — That God governs in the Affairs of Men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his Notice, is it probable that an Empire can rise without his Aid?”

We can ask the same question today....

Can America continue to prosper without God's aid?

Over the years, Grassfire has launched various prayer initiatives for this country. In our nation's 250th year and on this 25th anniversary of 9/11, we are inviting every team member to join with other faithful patriots in making a simple declaration:

Yes! I'm Praying For America!

There are no specific actions, other than knowing that you are joining with thousands of patriots who are praying for this land.

Your prayers for this country matter. America is the greatest experiment in God-based political liberty ever crafted. And while our future is uncertain, the path forward is clear -- we must pray and look to God for His blessing.
