Of all the ReStickers we have created, this one may be the best. Shortly after Hillary Clinton's statement that "you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call a 'basket of deplorables,'" then-candidate Trump showed up at a campaign rally to the music of Les Miserables and the "song of angry men."
It was the perfect symbol of the 2016 election — the Hillary Establishment v. Trump's Deplorables. So we went to work...
We commissioned our graphics partner, Tad Crisp, to design our very own Les Deplorables ReSticker. We think it's perfect. The flag of the colonies... Don't Tread On Me... the lesser known "Appeal To Heaven" banner. And "make America great again."
We even created a nifty "deplorables" ringtone. Listen to .mp3 here or download the .m4r ringtone formatted file here
Quite often in elections, an unexpected event or quote captures the entire campaign. And so it was with this. 2016 will be remembered as the Deplorables election. And the "Deplorables" idea lives on under different names and banners. In 2019 we have a "yellow vest" movement in France that, like the Tea Party in America, had its beginnings as a tax revolt. It's only a matter of time before the Deplorables in France take back control in an effort to save their republic.
Just like the storyline of Les Miserables, and the song featured here, "Do You Hear The People Sing?" For the "wretched of the earth" there is "a flame that never dies." And to be clear, the "flame" is a flame of faith -- Christian faith! The people are singing of their ultimate and eternal hope in Christ! Don't believe us? Read the words to the song:
Chorus
Do you hear the people sing
Lost in the valley of the night
It is the music of a people
Who are climbing to the light
For the wretched of the earth
There is a flame that never dies
Even the darkest night will end
And the sun will rise.
They will live again in freedom
In the garden of the Lord
They will walk behind the plough-share
They will put away the sword
The chain will be broken
And all men will have their reward!
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes!
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes!
Tomorrow comes!
Tomorrow comes!
