House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) won big when the House passed the "Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023" (H.R. 2811) last week. (See below for Grassfire's ealier coverage of the 217-215 vote.) While the GOP celebrated reining in federal spending, keeping the U.S. government open and avoiding default by defunding Joe's "America Last" agenda, Democrats whined.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called H.R. 2811 dead on arrival, while Joe warned that ANY bill that cut spending is "not negotiable." Why? Because his failed, tyrannical Regime wants a "clean" bill that allows for more of the Uni-party's "America Last" spending with no strings attached.

"I sent him a bill that lifted the debt ceiling," McCarthy countered last week. "We've done our job." The Speaker and his fellow House Republicans want to prevent a government shutdown and a default on America's massive debt. But another goal is to rein in runaway federal spending before it harms U.S. taxpayers even further.

"Look, we don't negotiate with ourselves," Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA), a key architect of the "Limit, Save, Grow Act" told The Wall Street Journal. "It's up to the Senate. It's up to the White House to come to the table."

Thursday afternoon:

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-CA) has scored a HUGE victory for Republicans AND American taxpayers. By a slim, two-vote margin, the GOP passed the "Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023" (H.R. 2811). The debt-limit bill reins in runaway government spending AND defunds key parts of Joe's radical, far-left, "America Last" agenda.

The legislation now moves to the Democrat-controlled Senate, where it will need 60 votes to pass the "Upper Chamber." While H.R. 2811 isn't likely to make it to Joe Biden's desk, passing the bill is still a big win for the GOP. The Wall Street Journal reports:

Biden says he won't sign the House bill, but the pressure is now on him to negotiate. The same for the Senate, which will have to pass a bill of its own or risk a U.S. default. Democrats can say they still won't negotiate, but that is harder to do now that the House has a passed a bill to raise the limit.

The immediate aftermath of passing the "Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023" is the perfect time for "America First" patriots to make their voices heard in the Senate!
