As you know, last week the Pelosi-led House Judiciary Committee began expediting through Congress a very dangerous bill -- wrongly named the "Equality Act" -- that pushes a radical LGBT agenda and effectively criminalizes Christianity.
This bill is not about "equality." It is about stripping away religious liberties and putting people of faith on the wrong side of the law!
The bill does not exempt churches, religious organizations, or Christian schools. In fact, this hostile new bill specifically forbids citizens or organizations from raising a religious free exercise claim as a defense against it!
+ + "Most invasive threat to religious liberty every proposed"
Andrew Walker, Senior Fellow a the Ethics And Religious Liberty Commission, writes that this bill "represents the most invasive threat to religious liberty ever proposed in America." He says implementation of the Equality Act would "have sweeping effects on religious liberty" and would be "chilling."
Walker further explains:
"By codifying the ideas that (1) sexuality has no core ethical limits other than consent, and that (2) male and female definitions are psychologically based, rather than biologically based, the Equality Act must be interpreted as an assault on Christian institutions and especially on parental rights—since public education will be transformed to follow the law’s provisions."
+ + Urgent Call To Action
With House Democrats pushing this new bill through Committee and then to the House floor, it is important for concerned citizens to let their voices be heard. Grassfire is preparing our first delivery of "Stop the Equality Act" petition for this week. But we are still short of our goal for the initial delivery to key House members.
Grassfire's "Stop The Anti-Faith Equality Act" Petition gives you an opportunity to get your message through to your members of Congress and other key members. Go here to sign the petition:
Again, this bill is an ominous threat to faith and family. According to Walker,"The Equality Act equates Christian ethics with hatred and bigotry." Walker concludes:
"With the stroke of a pen, pillars of human history—the ideas that marriage is a complementary union of a man and a woman, and that male and female are immutable, biological realities—would be thrown into the dustbin of history."
Sign the petition and spread the word!
P.S.We are still short of our petition goal. Go here to sign and have your petition delivered to Congress THIS WEEK:
