Dear Representative,

I'm faxing today because I reject any gun-control measure that infringes on the right of mentally competent, law-abiding citizens "to keep and bear Arms." I urge you to do the same by voting "No!" on H.R.1808, the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2021." In the midst of politicized tragedy, Democrats must not be allowed to pass a ban on so-called "assault weapons" that are among the most popular firearms for home protection. Also, Pew Research Center reports that, according to the FBI, "Rifles –- the category that includes guns sometimes referred to as 'assault weapons' -– were involved in 3%" of gun homicides in 2020.

While I agree that NO criminal or mentally ill person should be allowed access to firearms, please resist and oppose efforts by the anti-Second Amendment crowd to use the rising crime in Democrat-controlled, "Defund The Police" cities to weaken my rights and my ability to protect myself and my family. Law enforcement must identify and prevent the wrong people from owning guns and using them for criminal and deadly purposes. Law-abiding citizens MUST not be prevented from protecting themselves, their loved ones and their property.

Democrats ALWAYS overreach on limiting gun rights, and actions to weaken the Second Amendment -- either through this legislation or by executive fiat -- are simply unacceptable. I refuse to be made defenseless in the face of violence carried out by evil, corrupt and deeply disturbed criminals. There is no flaw in the Second Amendment! Police cannot be everywhere, which makes an armed citizenry necessary to protect and save American lives and property! Please, DO NOT SURRENDER on the Second Amendment.

When criminals use firearms to hurt and kill people, it's tragic and unacceptable. But passing restrictive gun-control laws that infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans is NOT the answer. While felons and the mentally ill should NOT have access to firearms, the Second Amendment guarantees "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." Thank you for your time and attention to this important, constitutional issue. Please note that I will join other American patriots in monitoring your response to this call to action.
