This one hurts...

21 House Conservatives just caved to Chuck Schumer and the dirty deal that is full of pork and earmarks and is setting up a massive "backdoor amnesty."

Here's what they did...

+ + They "Play Fought And Surrendered"

In order to pass the Schumer Dirty Deal appropriations bundle, a House "rule" had to get a majority vote on the House floor. ZERO Democrats voted in favor of the rule. Rep. Massie was the only Republican who followed his convictions and voted against the Dirty Deal. It took House leaders a full hour of arm-twisting to get everyone else "on board."

So the rule passed. By ONE VOTE. If just ONE MORE Republican had voted NO, the Schumer deal would have been derailed. Conservatives would have had leverage to extract real wins.

Then shortly thereafter, the House voted on the actual bills. And here's where 21 House Republicans caved...

21 Republicans who voted YES on the rule SWITCHED THEIR VOTE and voted NO on the actual bills. They did this so they could say they "opposed" the bill on the final vote.

If they had voted YES on the final bill, we could at least say they were consistent. But by switching their votes to opposing the bill, they made a mockery of... us. Here's more proof...

Twenty-one Democrats voted YES to pass the legislation. "Coincidentally," exactly... 21 Republicans switched their vote and voted NO. Amazing how the numbers just happened to "work out."

These otherwise mostly stalwart conservatives CAVED. There is no other way to look at it. They did what our team at Grassfire calls "PLAY FIGHT AND SURRENDER."

+ + But it gets worse...

Here's where it gets worse (follow me down the Rabbit Hole of posturing and misdirection).

Yesterday, some core conservatives threatened to tank the Schumer dirty deal unless the SAVE ACT was added to the appropriations bills. This would allow Republicans to bypass the Senate filibuster and pass the SAVE ACT and save our elections.

Some conservatives emerged from meetings and announced that they had received a commitment (of some sort) from Senate leader Thune to bring the SAVE ACT to the Senate floor as a standalone bill and break the filibuster. So they agreed to support the "rule" and allow passage of the Schumer deal.

Just so happens....

Almost immediately after the "rule" vote today, Thune announced that there was no such deal.

It was a sham from the beginning. Theatrics to present the illusion of having a conservative backbone. Playfight and surrender.

+ + Fax the GOP cavers...

As we said, this one hurts.

So for the first time in memory, we're giving you an opportunity to Fax as many of the 21 GOP CAVERS as we can reach and let them know what you think about their epic and backstabbing cave.

We've set this price at just $9 so everyone can fax the cavers. Go here.

We'll keep fighting, and we will also remember.

Grassfire

P.S. Here are the 21 Republicans who voted YES on the rule and then NO (one voted "Present") on the final bills. Call them. Or fax most of them with one action here.
