In a surprising turn of events, Gregory Angelo, a gay conservative and former president of Log Cabin Republicans rallied 100 LGBT leaders to lobby Senate Republicans to vote AGAINST THE EQUALITY ACT. Angelo delivered his letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's office earlier this month which resulted in a "very encouraging conversation."

Even as LGBT leaders oppose the Equality Act, this battle is just beginning! That's why, on Thursday morning, Grassfire is delivering our petition opposing the anti-faith Equality Act to Senate leadership ahead of their July 4 week-long recess. 

Based on superstar Taylor Swift's video portrayal of people opposed to the Equality Act, Swift has maliciously judged millions of Americans who hold to certain biblical values as backward thinking buffoons and ignorant bigots. I'm sure she would've incorporated the word "deplorables" if it hadn't already been used.

Yet, here is what Taylor Swift and over 350,000 of her pro-Equality Act petition signers fail to understand – or simply choose to dismiss:

The Equality Act is not about equality! It’s government-imposed ideology and unfairness.

Taylor Swift is doubling down on her Equality Act crusade.

Earlier today, the pop sensation with over 100 million followers on Facebook released a new song and music video as part of her crusade to get the Equality Act passed.

The video is full of cameos from a "Who's Who" of the LGBT movement, and the lyrics directly target anyone who dares to disagree with the radical same-sex agenda. As one commentator said, the video "not-so-subtly implies that anti-gay protestors are ignorant bigots who can’t spell."

It's the nightmare that every parent fears.... the state comes and takes your child away from you.

Why? Because you refused to consent to your teenage child receiving sex-change therapies or having a sex-change operation!

The same child who is not old enough to VOTE, or serve in the military, or drink alcohol, or donate blood, or play the lottery, or buy cigarettes, or consent to sex with someone over 18, or get their ears pierced or a tattoo, or possibly even drive a car CAN HAVE A LIFE-ALTERING SEX CHANGE OPERATION WITHOUT PARENTAL KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT!

Don't get complacent.

At the current pace, we will lose the battle over the Equality Act.

The LGBT activists are using "Equality" Month to push their agenda and rally masses of people in support of the bill. Pop sensation Taylor Swift launched a petition earlier this month and already has 150,000 signers. In contrast, we're still short of our 20,000 petition goal.

And now Democrat presidential candidates are openly pushing for "bathroom rights" for transgenders in public places, including our schools. 

Just as we predicted, LBGT activists are turning up the heat on the targeted GOP Senators who can get the Equality Act through the Senate. Pop star Taylor Swift joined the crusade this week with her own massive grassroots campaign targeting Sen. Lamar Alexander -- one of the 12 Grassfire identified last week as likely targets.

Swift if rallying her social media network and has even launched her own petition to pressure Alexander and the others. With the Senate back in session this week, we want to give citizens an opportunity to counter the efforts of Swift and others.

These 12 GOP Senators are on the LGBT SHORT LIST -- and there's enough of them to get this bill passed.

As of this morning, Grassfire has gathered just under 15,000 petitions to STOP THE EQUALITY ACT. As soon as we reach 20,000, we will start HAND-DELIVERING petitions to these vulnerable GOP Senators.

Pro-LGBT leaders say the language in the Equality Act passed by the House of Representatives goes too far and would "crush" conscientious objectors. Lawmakers in the U.S. Senate are now being pressured to pass the overreaching bill.

In an interview with the National Review, Douglas Laycock, a law professor at the University of Virginia and "a longtime supporter of same-sex marriage" says he opposes the Equality Act "because it would 'crush' conscientious objectors."

"It goes very far to stamp out religious exemptions... This is not a good-faith attempt to reconcile competing interests. It is an attempt by one side to grab all the disputed territory and to crush the other side."

URGENT GRASSFIRE CITIZEN ALERT: After passing in the House of Representatives, the Equality Act now goes to the U.S. Senate as S.788. The pressure for passage in the Senate is mounting.

In case you missed the news that the far-Left media is calling "historic," the Pelosi-led House of Representatives along with eight Republicans passed the erroneously named "Equality Act" by a vote of 236-173.

The Equality Act is now headed to the U.S. Senate. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) and other pro-LGBT Senators are already pressuring Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to hold a Senate vote on the Act.

Anti-Faith "Equality Act" Betrays Christian Citizens. Action Needed!

The Pelosi-led, Democrat-controlled House of Representatives along with eight Republicans undermined America's long-held tenets of religious freedom and freedom of speech by passing the erroneously named "Equality Act" by a vote of 236-173.

The so-called "Equality Act" rewrites the Civil Liberties Act of 1964 by elevating "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to a protected status.

The Act betrays America's believers and effectively criminalizes Christianity by putting us in legal and civil jeopardy for standing against the LGBTQ agenda. It nullifies the Religious Freedom Restoration Act forcing Christians to violate their sincerely held beliefs. The bill does not exempt churches, religious organizations, or Christian schools. In fact, this hostile new bill specifically forbids citizens or organizations from raising a religious free exercise claim as a defense against it!

The Act also shatters some of the rights and protections for women. It destroys the distinctions between male and female. It empowers men who identify as a woman to compete against women in sporting events. It forces biological women to share bathrooms, locker rooms and shower facilities with transgenders.
