Rush Limbaugh Tribute

In honor of Rush's life and legacy, share how the "Great One" impacted your life and our nation....

Rush Limbaugh was one of the nation's leading conservative voices for more than three decades. He championed America's founding ideals of liberty and limited government like few talk-radio hosts ever. On Wednesday, February 17, at the start of "The Rush Limbaugh Show," his wife Kathryn announced that he died from lung cancer at the age of 70.

We're saddened by his passing and what it will mean to the future of the conservative movement in America. But we are grateful for the decades that he served as such a strong voice for this great nation. Please join us in praying for his family and friends during their time of loss.

(Grassfire President Steve Elliott's Tribute.)

Please use this "Rush Tribute" to share how Rush impacted you personally and how grateful you are for the way he has impacted our nation.

I first hear Rush on a long ride in California, from Lancaster to Mammoth in 1988. He was brash, funny, but saying all the right things. I like millions of others became an avid listener and one of Rush’s “dittoheads”. I , and our Country will miss him dearly. True to his beliefs always, he was for the little man, the man that just wanted to left alone, and use his God given talents to go as far in this world as he could. As a voice for Conservatives and conservative beliefs he is irreplaceable and unfortunately one that we need so badly at this time. I pray he is finally happy and free from pain and knows we love him dearly.

I thank the Lord for the life of Rush Limbaugh. His strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ made him as strong in his faith in conservative ideals. I pray the young conservatives will carry on with such faithfulness and enthusiasm.

I now realize how much Rush had been a “core”, a balancing “center” of my life – not by telling us all what to do, but to be able to help us make sense of the happenings in the country – for a clearer perspective, in order to grow as intelligent citizens. He gave me comfort and hope. His humility, faith and humor combined with his enormous intellect to bring talk radio into the forefront forever in the U.S. RIP, dear Rush.

Rush was an amazing person, an icon in the broadcasting business and in the flood of audience listeners who looked to him for the truth in the American political scene. He was generous and passionate about life, love and our beautiful country. He was evidence of what makes this country great – individuals who believe in others and help them to their greatness.

Rush was the hi-lite of my day. This 87-year old became a conservative back in the early 60s.

Thank you, sir – may God keep you in His perfect peace.

Rush was always a beacon of sanity in the Obama years. I even sought his point of view when I loved Trump and so many voices were haters. I trusted that Rush by agreeing with me meant I wasn’t off base in my staunch approval. I thank you Rush for for your love of America. The USA will miss your viewpoints and counsel. We will miss you Rush. God bless and keep you.

I was always a card carrying liberal until my late husband introduced me to Rush during many drives during our delivery business. What a breath of fresh air. Raised by a family of Chicago democratically, I didn’t know people who thought differently existed! He will be missed!

Rush had a way of sorting out the political agenda for most people. I listened to him as did my Dad. Rush had opened a door into another realm and connection with my Dad. We would listen to Rush and then discuss what was said. He was full of confidence and had a great voice. Shall miss listening to him very much. So shall some if my friends who also listened to him. Prayers 🙏 to the family and his close friends.

I started listening to Rush after I my military career. I would be harvesting grain and I would find a local station carrying his programs. At first, I really didn’t care much for his mannerisms, his sarcastic humor, and I honestly hadn’t thought about politics in any real depth prior to the awakening he fostered. (It used to be that the military, and the U.S. Army in particular, was almost entirely apolitical. During my more than six year enlistment, I only cared about the support shown for the services. But this changed as I listened to Rush and began to thread together how everything I related to, (History and political science college major after being an engineering major prior to enlisting) family, friends, faith, fellowship, and the moral upbringing that instilled the qualities of my character, were not simply traits confined to my small agricultural hometown life. Over the years, I agreed and disagreed with Rush, as all people will, but I cherished the time spent in his presence on the airwaves, wherever I happened to be. He became a family friend, a valued confidant, even if the communication was mostly one-way. I think he was genuine, steadfast, and as human as we all are. His charity was well known, and his mental acuity renowned. The saddest broadcast I think I ever heard was his conversation with us, his audience, when he acknowledged his battle and his mortality. He was, in my mind, a steadfast and noble warrior, unwilling to bow or bend a knee to the evils that so desperately seek to dominate every aspect of our lives. This is the Rush I remember today, and tomorrow, regardless of the despicable squawks and squeaks from the veritable legions seeking to tarnish an immovable image. God bless and keep you, Rush. I pray for your family, your legacy, and for your eternal reward.

It was sometime in the early 90’s when I first heard Rush. I thought who is this arrogant son of a “B”. You see I was a teacher at the time, teaching outside Olympia Washington. Listening to him pissed me off, but when I have a strong emotional reaction to someone I ask myself why. so I began to listen to him and discovered that what he had to say were backed up by facts. That began my journey listening to Rush. I learned that just because someone has a strong sense of self doesn’t make them arrogant. If they speak truth who cares. Rush was one of those rare people who had brains, compassion for others, loved God and America. He also had the balls to speak about what was really happening even though he was ridiculed. We need more like him. Dear Rush you will be greatly missed.

I remember in the early days of Rush how the power of him was fun to witness. Two in particular were Dan’s cookie sale in Colorado and the rise of Snapple tea, that just exploded when they hit the airways of America. He will be dearly missed. God bless him and his family. RIP .

I prayed for Rush throughout his illness. I so appreciated his strength and determination to continue to be a voice of reason and truth throughout his illness. I pray God will comfort his family as only He can.

Thank you Rush for the years of dedication to us, his audience and America. God gave Rush a gift and Rush shared his gift with us daily at the “Golden EIB” microphone . What wonderful humble man.

I had been a fan of Rush’s radio since 1992, a dittohead since 1998. His communication, making the complex understandable, with enthusiasm and optimism and love for America, will always stay with me. His connection to his listeners is something that cannot be faked or manipulated. I’m grateful to have heard him, and I miss him terribly.

First of all, Steve, your comments were perfect. I can say “ditto” to everything you wrote. I listened that long as well and eagerly looked forward to hearing him and his perspective. Talent on loan from God couldn’t have been more true. His wisdom was definitely Holy Spirit led. I wanted him to live to 100. HUGE loss.

RIP Rush, I wish God had healed you but I guess he wanted you home. Prayers to his family & I ask for prayers for my mom. She is 58 & also has stage 4 lung cancer. She is a nonsmoker, does not drink, eats healthy & used to exercise 5 days a week. Sometimes things make no sense but there is always hope in Christ.

Spoke with Rush in Sacramento (KFBK radio) asking him WHEN he was going national. He explained for the next 15 minutes that he was moving to NY – going national – in a month. My entire family love Rush! My mother listened to him everyday – especially as she lost her sight – and he gave her such JOY! There are no words to communicate what Rush has meant to me and millions of American Patriots who think, live and love – just like Rush has. To all Rush’s family – you are in our prayers and Masses. God bless you all – and may Our Blessed Mother in heaven present Rush to Our Lord and allow him to continue his special work – from above.

In the late 80’s I heard Rush for the first time. I immediately called my brother and said to listen to this guy, he thinks just like us. After that, I arranged my lunch hour every day so I could sit in my car at 12:07 PM and catch the first 20 minutes of his show. I am now 80 years old and my heart is broken. I have tear drops on my keyboard right now, it hurts so much. Rush, I loved you and will miss you more than you can know. May God give you a seat next to him for all you have done for this country. May God bless you and your family.

I appreciated Rush for his courage and sharing his view of the world. I enjoyed his take on many uneasy situations and “Cracocrazy” people that make no sense when they speak and attack him. He kept his stride and kept his integrity, which the left hates. this is a sad day and I say Goodbye to a voice of reason in a crazy lying world. Knowing he is now with God makes this much easier. Good day to you Rush, I know you are in a place of love now. You fought a good fight and we thank you!

There is no way to express our loss except to heap praise upon one of the greatest insightful human beings to ever come our way. Had to be sent to us by The Lord. In this world of murky and many times dishonest individuals with their own agendas, the voice and message of Rush was crisp and honest. He cut thru the darkness we all have felt with our Government with a direction that gave us some hope.
