Rush Limbaugh Tribute

In honor of Rush's life and legacy, share how the "Great One" impacted your life and our nation....

Rush Limbaugh was one of the nation's leading conservative voices for more than three decades. He championed America's founding ideals of liberty and limited government like few talk-radio hosts ever. On Wednesday, February 17, at the start of "The Rush Limbaugh Show," his wife Kathryn announced that he died from lung cancer at the age of 70.

We're saddened by his passing and what it will mean to the future of the conservative movement in America. But we are grateful for the decades that he served as such a strong voice for this great nation. Please join us in praying for his family and friends during their time of loss.

(Grassfire President Steve Elliott's Tribute.)

Please use this "Rush Tribute" to share how Rush impacted you personally and how grateful you are for the way he has impacted our nation.

I will miss my friend very much. I missed him in KC when he was on the Royals, or at our favorite steak house. I missed him here in Florida; but I seldom missed his EIB show. What a guy. I will continue to miss my friend. So long old friend.

There are no words to express the loss of Rush. He was an answer to prayer as every liberal talk show host that I ran across on the radio cut people off the phone the moment that they said that they were a Christian, conservative or pro-life. I prayed that God would give us somebody that conservatives, Christians, and pro-life people would have a voice, and not be hung up on, and God sure answered that prayer. Rush had a voice that nobody could beat. The first time that I heard Rush, he was talking about saving the lives of babies. I was thinking, “Who is this?”, because I had never heard anybody talk that way on the radio, and I found out that it was Rush Limbaugh (1991). There will never be another Rush, and as the title of the book someone wrote states, “Rush Limbaugh: An Army of one”. He was a one man show, and genuine of heart. He always gave us hope, and was upbeat, regardless of how hopeless the situation looked. He was one of a kind, and will be sorely missed.

I feel as though I’ve lost a member of my family! Rush would hang out with me most mornings as he would give me a clearer perspective of current events and actual hope for the future for our country. He will truly be missed as we as Americans have lost a true patriot. Thank you for sharing your dear loved one with us to the very end, how unselfish of you when I’m sure you would have preferred to have him all to yourself when his time was so limited. My prayers go out to you all at this difficult loss!

I first listened to Rush in 1988. I was a single female, struggling to make a success of my small business and I thought politically I was all alone. But hearing Rush gave me hope and inspiration to work hard at my passion and make my dream a reality. My “feminazi” girlfriends thought I was nuts to like Rush. But he was my mentor, my inspiration, and he made me laugh. I was introduced to him by my boyfriend who is now my husband of 33 years. And we still run the family business. Thanks for the memories Rush and God bless you always.

I was so thankful to listen to Rush for many years. I am so sorry that he has passed away, but now I know he is with Jesus. Eventually my husband and I will get to meet him in heaven. I have prayed for his wife and his brother and family.

I began listening to Rush as a new mother who needed adult conversation while raising my children. I wanted to listen to news that I could trust and then I found Rush in 1987. I agreed with his philosophy and his obvious love of my country. All of my children were Rush babies and grew up listening to Rush and my children introduced Rush to my grandchildren. Rush helped me keep my sanity while raising young children, but more than that, he helped to offer hope in very trying times when the country seemed to be abandoning the Constitution. Here was a fellow comrade in arms of the mind. He was an incredible force and we all loved him. Thank you to his lovely wife for sharing him with so many of us. We bought his tea, his shirts, his books, and have his Christmas EIB microphone ornament. We have laughed with him, and today have shed many tears because of our huge loss. I am happy that he knows Christ as His Savior, and that I will see him again. Kudos to the man who has done so much for radio broadcasting and America, the Land I Love. Mrs. Karen and Ken Nielsen and family, Amber(Nielsen), James, Jack, and Vincent Gronewold; Brittany,(Nielsen), Joshua, Brian, Bennett, Bruce, Brett Hughes; Benjamin, Hannah, Elizabeth, Annette, Katherine Nielsen; Robert, Mary, Sarah Nielsen; Heather Nielsen, and Kayla Nielsen—all ditto heads and fine far-right Conservative Republicans

More than a great leader of the conservative movement he seemed a genuinely honest and decent man and I feel that I had a personal relationship with him even though I never spoke with him directly. I will miss him very much. What a phenomena life he lived. God bless you, Rush. We all miss you so very much.

Rush was always a super Pro American. I sometimes had turn him off because he became too intense to listen to but I always came back. He like Donald Trump always had a message America needed but was not always accepted. We shall really miss him. The swamp will rejoice in his passing. America needs to wake up.

    Rush Rest In Peace.

Rush was my “desk mate” for over 30 years. I would arrive at work, turn on the show, have a cup of tea and listen and laugh with Rush for the next three hours while I did my work. I knew this day was coming but was still totally unprepared for his passing. I have always wished that I went to Dan’s bake sale. Because of Rush, I have been a city watchdog for 25 years, trying to hold our council members accountable. In 2008, I ran for city council and won. I was NOT welcomed at city hall and it was WONDERFUL. Thank you, Rush, for giving conservatism a voice! How are we ever going to fill this void ?

    Rest In Peace.

In 1991, I kept on hearing him, in truck companies I was delivering truck parts to, and liked what I heard. I asked what station he was on, and from that time on, 9am to 12pm PT, he was on my radio.

I was hooked with the first show when I started to listen in the early nineties! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! Such a powerful voice for the heart of what America is made of!

He took us through some tough times and always made us have hope – no matter what!

I know that he will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family!

I remember when Rush got a lot of push back when he said he hoped Obama failed. I supported Rush in his thought. It seems he knew full well that Obama’s agenda was to fundamentally change the USA. Rush, like me, did not want to see that happen…..we must carry on for our country and for Rush Limbaugh.

I first tuned into Rush in the early 90’s as a mom of young kids being at home. His humor grew on me as my interest in conservatism blossomed during the frustrating Clinton presidency. I fluctuated some as a listener during the ensuing years but tuned especially over the last several as Rush had his health struggles but all throughout maintained his witty insight. Rush, you were a gift loaned to us and now returned to the God you and I know. Prayers for your family, missing you!

For 31 years, you have been a voice in the soundtrack of my life. In 1989, one of my friends introduced me to your voice on AM radio. Am radio…. In my mind I thought, why AM radio? It’s a dead method of communication. The brilliance was because you didn’t need complete sound quality if you had a great message and you could reach more people with less effort instead of relying on thousands of FM affiliates and even with your own show and the funny thing about the that was when Chevy Chase tried to have a late night tv show against your show and he failed miserably. I hated that you stopped doing the tv show but understand completely why you stopped doing it. As the times changed you evolved, always on the cutting edge of societal evolution. People who did not listen to you would not understand demonstrating absurdity by being absurd some thought you were arrogant or mean, they didn’t understand what you were doing but those of us in it for the long haul understood and loved you for it. My favorite times though, were when you were fired up. On occasion, you delivered your show with a fire driven by the love for this country, we understood that as well. Now, may you rest, your watch is over and you paved the way for many to step behind you, although they will never fill your shoes, may the many that are still out there fill them as best they can and keep conservative values at the forefront. I will miss that voice. I pray for your family and friends and I pray for the millions of people you touched every day, we are mourning. You didn’t know me personally but you were a 3 hour block of my day that I that I cannot quantify by words. Thank you for fighting with us and for us. See you on the other side.

As a Rush Baby, he taught me conservative thought since I can remember. I’m very grateful for him. He helped me become a critical thinker, and that it’s ok to be vocal about your opinion. “Those that matter, don’t mind, and those that mind, don’t matter.”

I feel like God used him in mighty ways. We love you Rush! Rest In Peace.

I am saddened at the news Kathryn delivered to us today. I have been listening to Rush ever since I first saw him on late-night television in the early 90’s. I am so thankful for the way he informed and encouraged us to keep standing for conservative values. It was a blessing and privilege that Rush was here for us throughout these years. Prayers for his wife and family.

It saddens me to hear of Rush’s passing. He was so courageous during his fight with cancer. Always took the time to listen to his callers. Even when I’m sure He was not feeling his best in the end, he never complained about his own health. He was a true patriot and strong leader for our country. I learned so much from listening to him. I will miss him. God Bless you, Rush and Thankyou for your great service to this country! My sincere condolences to all of the family.

I have lost a member of my family today. This is exactly how I feel after spending 5 day a week, 365 days a year since June of 1989 listening to Rush from noon to 3:00 every day. Any thing I had to do was worked around his show if it was at all possible. The void he left will never be filled. May his soul Rest In Peace in God’s loving arms. My greatest sympathy for his beloved wife, Kathryn and his brother, David, as well as his loyal EIB family at Southern command.

A gifted communicator, no one could articulate what America means as well as he did. A true gentleman and a humble man. He informed me daily for nearly thirty years. A man we’ll not see the likes of anytime soon. Big shoes to fill.

A shame he left us in times like this when we need him most. We can only try harder now.

    Forever in his debt.
