Dear Senator,

National Review warns that, with H.R.5, the Joe Biden administration "is simply picking up where President Obama left off. But where Obama introduced his overreaching gender-identity policies by the backdoor ... Biden is more explicitly laying out his administration’s plans for instituting transgender ideology in every sphere of life from schools, locker rooms, and sports teams, to health care and homeless shelters."

So, I'm faxing today to strongly urge you to oppose the Equality Act. This legislation threatens the free exercise of religion and religious speech. It broadly imposes the LGBTQ agenda and does not exempt churches, religious employers, organizations nor colleges. The bill potentially places Christians on the wrong side of the law and specifically forbids raising "religious free exercise" as a claim or defense to the LGBTQ agenda.

The misnamed Equality Act also rewrites civil rights law to include "sexual orientation and gender identity" as protected classes, while erasing safety, privacy and equality rights for women and girls. Breitbart Politics reports that H.R.5 "would eliminate the legal recognition of male and female sex, cater to gender ideology, and designate protection for the unborn as 'pregnancy discrimination."

As Gregory Angelo, the former president of the Log Cabin Republicans, warned in an op-ed: "Don't fall for the 'Equality Act.'" He stated, "The Equality Act is legislation that would compromise American civil rights and religious liberty as we know it. All reasonable Americans, especially gay Americans who support pluralism and tolerance, should oppose it. … [T]his is bad legislation that will set back the cause of true equality, perhaps by decades."

The Equality Act actually furthers inequality! Please vote to stop this dangerous, anti-women, anti-faith bill.
