Tell President Obama: "Stop
Altering American History"
In a shameless case of presidential narcissism, the official
White House biographies of former presidents now include
prominent mentions of President Obama, connecting Obama to the
accomplishments of his predecessors. From Coolidge, to
Roosevelt, to Kennedy, to Reagan, Obama has inserted himself in
to our presidential history.
Perhaps the most outrageous example of all portrays President
Reagan as a supporter of Obama's "Buffet Rule" tax increase
scheme.
(Go
here for this and more examples.)
The Petition States:
To: President
Obama,
I find it offensive that the official White House web site has
modified the biographies of former presidents to connect your
Administration to the accomplishments of your predecessors. Such
a self-centered view of history is despicable and un-American,
with such tactics usually reserved for tyrants and political
despots. In addition, many of these connections are untrue or
inaccurate, such as the effort to paint President Reagan as a
supporter of your tax-increasing "Buffet Rule." Do the decent
thing -- remove the self-serving references to your
administration from the official White House presidential bios.
