Click to see Fox News' update on the trouble at Gibson guitars.
In the year since armed federal marshals raided and seized
guitars from the Gibson guitar factories in Tennessee, over
their allegedly importing and using rosewood and ebony exported
from India, there still have been no charges filed.
According to reports, the Department of Justice was attempting
to enforce the Lacey Act, a century old law passed to regulate
bird feathers but amended several years to also include certain
exotic woods.
With no movement on the case, Gibson guitars remains in what
many are calling "legal limbo" and putting them at a severe
competitive disadvantage in having to use less popular wood
while other guitar manufacturers continue using imported ebony
and rosewood.
Grassfire Nation has been at the forefront of this "free
market" battle since it began, and we are urging citizens to
"Stand with Gibson" until the DOJ takes definitive action in
their case against Gibson guitars.
Less than 10,000 petitions needed to
reach our goal of 75,000 for our next delivery to the DOJ.
Petition States:
As an
American citizen I object to the heavy-handed nature of the
Obama Administration and their aggressive overregulation and
assault on private business and free enterprise. I stand with
Gibson Guitars and those businesses that are being targeted by
an overreaching Obama Administration. I am also demanding that
the DOJ bring closure to this case so that Gibson guitars can
move forward.
